Clive Eric Cussler (July 15, 1931 – February 24, 2020) was an American adventure novelist and underwater explorer. Born in Aurora, Illinois, Cussler began his literary career in the 1960s. He rose to fame with his series of Dirk Pitt novels, which became bestsellers and inspired film adaptations.
